lagos + cheilos, Greek for "hare" + "lip/cheek":
the flower of Lagochilus looks like a hare's mouth
common names are nice ways to refer to a plant, flow off the tongue easier than Latin ones, and impart more character and information to lay people. they're also fun. to try and develop a closer relationship with plants that i grow, i like to call them names that mean something to me.
